Exchange Hotel Kalgoorlie

Project Name: Exchange Hotel
Client: Private Client
Project Location: Kalgoorlie
Project Year:  2018

The Exchange hotel is one of the most iconic buildings from the gold rush era, first built in the early 1890s it was then replaced with the current building in 1900. It has two storeys made up of Local Brick, Timber and decretive iron balustrading. The building has been listed on the State Heritage Register since 1997.

K&S Restorations carried out extensive conservation works in the cellar including a poultice system to remove damaging salts from the stone walls and the application of a specific lime render to stabilise and draw the salts from the walls in the future which will dramatically slow the deterioration of the soft stone.
